Post 127…The Throne Room of God

No one knows what the throne room will look like.  All we can do is imagine by what John through the word of God described it to us.

There is much to say about the throne room of God.  But let’s begin with Revelation 4:2-11 NLT

And instantly I was in the Spirit,[a] and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones—like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow. Twenty-four thrones surrounded him, and twenty-four elders sat on them. They were all clothed in white and had gold crowns on their heads. From the throne came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder. And in front of the throne were seven torches with burning flames. This is the sevenfold Spirit[b] of God. In front of the throne was a shiny sea of glass, sparkling like crystal.

In the center and around the throne were four living beings, each covered with eyes, front, and back. The first of these living beings was like a lion; the second was like an ox; the third had a human face, and the fourth was like an eagle in flight. Each of these living beings had six wings, and their wings were covered all over with eyes, inside and out. Day after day and night after night they keep on saying,

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty—
the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come.”

Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), 10 the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say,

11 “You are worthy, O Lord our God,
to receive glory and honor and power.
For you created all things,
and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

This takes place in the Throne room of God. John, through God, is telling us what is happening.  He was like miraculously lifted up to heaven.  Was in just in spirit or was it physical?  It is like John was taken through this door and that door opened up into heaven. John is told that he is going to receive a revelation of things that “must” be hereafter.  Remember that word must be here. As I read this, I understand that God was going to use John to represent Him in what was going to take place, and John would be the one who would write about it and the message would come down through time to us so that all who are now living would know what will take place.  Also, remember that God is not on our timetable.  He is the timetable and the timing of this, or any event, is up to Him when it will happen.   John represents all “true believers” in Jesus.  All true believers on the day God brings forth will be a wonderful time for believers for we will be taken out of this world at what is known as the church age, in the event which we call the rapture.  Now, if you don’t believe in rapture it will still happen.  People have different opinions as to when it will take place. To me, and millions of others this is a great event that will soon take place.  It is our hope in His soon return.  No one knows the day or hour no matter what they tell you. Why?  Because God says no one knows but Him and when the time is right…it will happen.

But what is going on in heaven as John is there for this revelation?  We don’t get to know everything about heaven, and we really don’t get to know much at all, but we get a glimpse into it. Maybe our minds could not able to take a full look at it.  But just a glimpse should give us great hope that we will get to be where our Lord and Savior is.

We are allowed to view some of the events that take place in Heaven before God’s judgment is visited upon the world. I wonder sometimes what beauty we would see even in just a glimpse of heaven.  Could we understand what was happening?  Could we be able to describe heaven to someone?  Could our minds even comprehend the beauty of it and to be in the presence of God and all the angels?

Let’s take a peek into what John saw and shared with us.  We all have an opinion of heaven by what we read in the Bible, and what we think, but I want to know all I can about heaven because one day I want to be there with my Lord and Savior.  I need His perspective not the world’s opinions or mine for that matter.

We live in this crazy world where very little any more doesn’t make a lot of sense.  People are mean and evil out there and so many are deceived and don’t know God at all.  What about them?  The things of this world can overwhelm us for sure, but we can have hope for our future.  God is my hope and I pray He is yours as well.

The world is out of control, and it is only going to get worse.  How do I know this?  Because, again, the Bible tells us in the end times it will get worse and worse and we can see this each day now. There is hate beyond belief every day, mean people who don’t care if they hurt others.  There are wars, rumors of wars, disease after disease, wicked people in control of governments, ungodliness, homelessness, racism, and all this woke crap and gender crap going around.  The world is a mess. Just every day of your life remembers this: God is still in control.  God has the wheel.  He knows what He is doing and when He is going to do it. God is working out the details and God never sleeps, or slumbers, nor is He too busy for His kids.

Just because you and I can’t see the details doesn’t mean that God is not taking care of things.  God never said that we would be able to see all the details.

So let’s take a look at heaven in what God is allowing John to share with us. What is going on in the throne room of God?  First, who is on that throne?  God!  God, Himself is sitting on that throne. If you were John what would you be feeling? As you take in what God allows would you be scared or happy?  You get to take a glimpse into heaven and you get to hear what God says.  That is amazing, isn’t it? How thrilled would you be?

Have you ever met someone whom you consider to be an important person?  Was it an honor to meet that person?  Why?  Did they have an important job, actor, politician, rich person, athlete, and so on?  Whomever they were that you met…is meeting them going to change your eternal life?  Were you thrilled to meet them?  In my life, I have met people I considered to be good people, but I sure would not want to base my eternal life on even one of them.  Everyone sins and falls short.  I don’t care how important one thinks they are in this life, the only one who truly matters to my soul is God Almighty. Meeting people is a good thing, of course, it is, but putting your soul in jeopardy to do it is not such a good thing. Do not take that statement out of context!!!

John tells us in vs 2 that what John sees is a “throne set in Heaven”. A “throne” speaks of “sovereignty and authority”. We are viewing One Who occupies the place of absolute authority over all the affairs of Heaven and earth.

Psalm 47:8

New Living Translation

8 God reigns above the nations,
    sitting on his holy throne.

 Psalm 103:19

New Living Translation

19 The Lord has made the heavens his throne;
from there he rules over everything.

Our God is ruler, He is stable, He is justice, He is love, and He is our all in all. We can’t take God’s place ever

Psalm 45:6

New Living Translation

6 Your throne, O God,[a] endures forever and ever.
You rule with a scepter of justice.

Do you know/realize that most of the world doesn’t believe in not only God, but that God is authority.  They try daily to destroy Him through His church.  They even try to make laws that say we can no longer pray.  This has happened in many places around the world, but they don’t know God and we will pray, we will go on believing, and we will stand on Him and His word for we know the power in doing so.  God exists no matter who denies it.  One day they will definitely know it when they stand before Him.  God will judge all the unbelievers who didn’t want Him in their life. Mankind can ignore Him now, but not one will be able to ignore Him before the throne.

Philippians 2:9-11

New Living Translation

9 Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
11 and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

Romans 14:12

New Living Translation

12 Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God.

John now attempts to do the impossible: he attempts to describe God. He can only describe God by terms and things he knows. The One on this throne is God the Father. How do we know that? God the Son takes the seven sealed book out of His hand in Rev. 5:5-7.

Revelation 5:5-7

New Living Translation

5 But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, “Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne,[a] has won the victory. He is worthy to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

6 Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been slaughtered, but it was now standing between the throne and the four living beings and among the twenty-four elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which represent the sevenfold Spirit[b] of God that is sent out into every part of the earth. 7 He stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one sitting on the throne.

John talks about God being like a jasper and a sardine stone.  Like is the word here.  Like means being representative and symbolic. God is not a stone!!!

So let’s take jasper for a moment. Bible definition is:

(Heb. yashpheh, “glittering”), a gem of various colours, one of the twelve inserted in the high priest’s breast-plate ( Exodus 28:20 ). It is named in the building of the New Jerusalem ( Revelation 21:18 Revelation 21:19 ). It was “most precious,” “clear as crystal” ( 21:11 ). It was emblematic of the glory of God ( 4:3 ).

But could this jasper, in our mind, be like what we know a diamond to be?  We look at a diamond and we see a stone that is strong, firm, unchanging, and clear. Well, John, is in the throne room so what could that mean?  God is Almighty, strong, unchanging, authoritative, commanding, consistent, unfailing, impressive, forceful, reliable, dependable, trustworthy, solid, and will be around forever. (my thought here) Isn’t God amazing?

Let’s talk morals for a moment. We can look around anywhere in the world and see how little morals most people have. Now, God is the God of moral law.  God doesn’t change.  People, every day, are trying to change what God said about morals. Many don’t want to live morally.  Mankind rejects morals and they will say God is out of date, God didn’t mean that, there is no God, God would be okay with our sin now.  No, He would and is not okay with sin now or ever. Mankind wants to do their own thing without thinking about the consequences of their actions.  God is not letting you get away with sinning.  However, He is giving you a chance and a choice to confess your sins, and repent of them so you can be right with Him. It is your choice.  He will let you live in your sins for now, but a judgment is coming and there are consequences if you were to die in that state.  God is unchanging so if something needs changed it is you that needs to change

Sardine stone:

sardine stone is blood red, which may signify the power, justice, and terror of God. The rainbow was the sign of God’s covenant with Noah, signifying his being so far reconciled to the world, as that he would not again destroy it by water, Genesis 9:13.It reminds us that while God is a God of sovereign rule and complete authority, He holds mankind to a high measure of purity.  God hates sin, but loves us and wants us to be right with Him.  He gives us a way of redemption. When we ask God to come into our life/heart, something happens in our soul.  We turn to Him by faith, we want to please our God and live like He wants us to live.  We confess and we turn from our sins and God works on transforming us.  God doesn’t want anyone to miss heaven, but if you don’t have Jesus in your life as Lord, you will miss eternity with God and it would be you that chose this by your rejection of the Lord Jesus.

God is the just God.  The only just one ever. Some of mankind think they are just but they really have no clue.  They never see what God sees in a person.   However, God is also moved by love, mercy, and grace…but again, unless Jesus is your Lord no matter how good you think you are, or how many good things you think you did, you will miss out on heaven unless Jesus is your Lord.  How do I know that?  God said that.  Jesus is the light of this world, He is the way, the truth, and the light.  Without Him you will not make it into heaven no matter who tells you otherwise.  He is the way to heaven.  I don’t understand anyone not wanting Jesus in their life. He is so awesome, so loving, and He went to that horrible cross to save us.  Why don’t some people understand this? Why would anyone want to turn Jesus away?

Exodus 28:17–21 KJV 1900

17 And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be a sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle: this shall be the first row. 18 And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. 19 And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. 20 And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper: they shall be set in gold in their in closings. 21 And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names, like the engravings of a signet; every one with his name shall they be according to the twelve tribes.

The stones represented the tribes of Israel.  Sardius was representative of the tribe of Reuben, and Jasper represented the tribe of Benjamin. The twelve stones that represented the twelve tribes of Israel were to remind the people that God always keeps His covenants.

The twelve stones were a constant reminder that God would keep His Word and do everything He had promised to do.

Judgment will come, but it will be carried out by One Who has walked among us. You don’t have to believe it.  Even if you choose not to believe it will never change the fact of who God is. God is just and because He is just when He judges mankind who rejected Him, He will still judge fairly and do it with compassion.  Judging the unsaved was not His desire.  His desire was to see all of us saved and living for Him.

God wants us transformed into whom He wants us to be.  When you look at a rainbow (a sign from God and not the gay community) …the rainbow is amazing.  But the one in heaven will look differently.  When you see a rainbow and its magnificent beauty what do you think about?  In heaven the rainbow is an emerald rainbow.  Oh, how beautiful that will be.  Can you even imagine that?  We also know that the rainbow indicates the fact that the storm has ended. Take Noah and the rainbow, the first rainbow was given to Noah as a visible sign that God would never again destroy the earth by a flood. But that glorious rainbow in heaven is a reminder that when we arrive there, the storms will be over for the children of God. No more death, no sorrow, no pain, no sickness, no temptations, or anything else we had to struggle with while on this earth.

Right now we don’t have a lot of answers or understand what is going on.  We will. It is also a reminder that God will judge the earth, but that He will do in line with His promises and His convents. Our God is the only God and the God of order.

The rainbow speaks of God’s mercy. Even as the wrath of God is about to fall on this doomed world, God is still moving in restraint and mercy.  Habakkuk 3:2 KJV 1900

2 O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years, make known; In wrath remember mercy.

You and I are all headed to our death.  The moment we took our first breath on this earth our life was headed to our death…but then…we get to spend it with God for all eternity or in hell.  We will all have an encounter with the God of creation.  It will happen no matter what you might want to tell yourself.  One day, we will all be face-to-face with Him. We will meet Him. You will go before God in HIS throne room to give an account of your life.  You will face Him and you won’t be making any more excuses as to why or why not you did or did not do something.  God knows!  One day whether you die young or old you will be before God.  Our journey will be complete; our burdens lifted; our tears dried away; our questions answered, our broken hearts healed forever; and we will be home! Praise God, there is a better day coming.  But for the non-believers, the rejecters of Jesus…they will not be going into the gates of heaven.  You make your choice while you are on this earth.  As for me…I choose Jesus as my Lord and Savior.  I know what He did and does for me.  I choose to follow Him and one day of His timing…I get to see Him face to face.  He has forgiven me an awful lot and I am so very thankful.  He wants to forgive you as well.  He doesn’t want to tell anyone…depart from me I never knew you.  He would rather say Welcome home!!!

We need to take the throne room of God seriously.  We will be there, and it will go one of two ways.  I pray that you will make it into heaven and you can.

You, right now…have the most important decision to make if you are not a Christian yet.  Some call themselves Christian but that doesn’t make them one.  Is Christ your Lord?  Do you have a personal relationship with Him?  Do you do as He asks you to do?  If not, are you really a Christian?  Just because one goes to church, doesn’t make them a Christian. Jesus must be your Lord and Savior.

A prayer is just talking to God.  There is no set prayer to pray.  Just talk to Him.  I put this down as an example of asking Jesus to come into your life.  You can pray this or just ask Jesus in your own words.

Father God, I am a sinner in need of a savior. Please come into my life and save me. Forgive me for my sins and transform me, please. I know I can be forgiven by the blood you shed on the cross. I want to live for you and not for me any longer.  Help me to change.  In Jesus’ name. Amen

Now may the God of heaven bless you, guide you, transform you, heal you, protect you, and give you His peace.

God bless you
