Post 61 Voting Godly

Introduction: Let us each exercise our Godly and civic responsibility.  Let us talk about what God wants. Song of Solomon 2:15 says, “Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.”  So, what does that mean?  Foxes went to search for food.  They went into the field or what people call the orchards and they wanted to devour the grapes and destroy the crops.  They were pretty good at it too. Foxes were pretty little and the vines big so they would chomp at the bottom to kill the entire vines.  They didn’t care that it destroyed the crop or that it would hurt that needed that crop to stay whole. They would destroy the crops and destroy the farmer’s livelihood.  Many people might not think about the disastrous consequences of the little critter in the field but you can bet that farmer and his family, and those that crop would go out to would.

In today’s world, what are some of the little foxes we should be concerned with?  To us, it is the things that keep us from voting godly or the excuses we make why we won’t vote for what is right in the sight of God.  We forget our responsibility to God and all of His kids around the world.

Who or what out there keeps us from our duty to God and our fellow man from voting as God wants us to?  Remember this always and especially when voting in this next (and all) election.  Don’t use these excuses.  Know that if you don’t vote…you can’t complain, and the enemy loves it when you choose not to vote or make excuses.

Don’t say that your vote doesn’t count: It does count and more so now than ever before.

Don’t make excuses about being overwhelmed so you won’t vote.

Know that if you do nothing and don’t vote it sure makes the enemy stronger.

Don’t vote bad leadership into office because people tell you to.  Use that brain God gave to you. In your very being, you know right from wrong.

Don’t say you are just too busy to vote.  You sure make time for other things.  Our vote matters not only to us, but to our kids, grandkids, and the future of America.

Don’t just say that politics anymore is full of corruption…you are the only answer you have to do right and be involved in the solution.

Stop justifying bad behavior because you might offend someone.  Anyone doing right will offend someone.

Don’t say you just don’t want to get involved.  This is the planet you live on and if not you help out…you will lose your freedom.  Is that not worth fighting for? Only heaven will one day reveal the many opportunities that we had to change things for the better in this nation, yet, we failed to do so because we failed to use our right to vote.  You don’t want to lose your freedom and rights, do you?  Would you rather believe the lies you are fed in the media without doing due diligence to find the truth?  People lived and died to give us the freedoms we have had.  Don’t allow the evil in our country to take that away from all of us.  Stop believing the lies being fed to you.

It is a great privilege to vote.  We are the ones who decide if we are free or under tyranny.  Look around at the world and what happened to them when evil took over their governments.  Truth is important people.  God’s truth…not what man calls truth.

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 1 Timothy 2:1-4

Don’t ever think that God is not concerned with our government and the leaders we pick to lead us.  The thing is that if we don’t pray, don’t study God’s word, and don’t apply what God says is important then what exactly are we going to do when we don’t have the freedom any longer and that includes voting for godly people who will stand up and do God’s will and not go along with the majority who is doing all it can to destroy us. If you are a Christian, then you have more of a responsibility to study what these people are claiming they believe.  What is their track record?  What do they believe?  Have they been manipulated and are they deep inside corrupt?

And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. Tell us, therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Show me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s. Matthew 22:16-21

Think about the above verses:  Do what you must like paying your taxes, but Give what is right to God and His work. We are not to leave the operation of government in America in the hands of the ungodly.  We do, as Christians, things legally, and morally, and we stand on God’s word.  We don’t act like the evil around us.  Our job as Christian is to take that one vote we get and use it only in a godly way.  Don’t go along with what the world claims is right, do what God says is the right thing to do. If God calls something a sin then no matter what mankind or our government calls that thing…it is still sin.  God doesn’t change to suit man.  Study each issue being voted on, pray about it, then cast your “one” vote godly.  Don’t be fooled by the lies of the enemy.  They use every means necessary to stay in power and control you.  Be wise.  Ask God for wisdom.

What does each person stand on that you are voting for?  What have they said or done in the past that was wishy-washy?  Don’t get stuck in their traps and lies.  They are good at lying and they use the media and government to spread their hate and get you to believe their lies.  The devil uses their immorality and the media to spread that.  If you are told something long enough…then you are apt to believe it is true. Don’t vote the way someone else did.  You take the time to study the issue and see what aligns with God and His word and vote godly. Voting for people who sound good and think as the world does is not the one you want to cast your vote for.

How many people are falling for lies (even in relationships) because some guy smooth talked them into believing their lies…then found out the hard way after they married.  How did that person treat people before?  How did he treat his family, friends, and co-workers?  Was he a fake and a liar just to get to you then after the marriage turned into a jerk and an abuser?  Take the time to know what they believe, who they really are, what they believe in, and if they are truly a godly person. There truly are a lot of smooth talkers out there!!!

Luke 16:10: “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.”

We are called to pray for our leaders.  We are to pray for those in authority but even more so we are to pray so we know God’s desire in whom to vote for.

Is the person qualified for the exact office they are trying to get into?  It is like going to a nurse to have brain surgery. You would want the best person to do the surgery.  Without the true knowledge to do that brain surgery…you most likely would die.  Don’t make bad decisions for your vote because they sound good, or because they give you a garbage line to reel you into their deceptions. People need godly experience in the job they are asking you to vote for.  What is their real qualification?  How good were they at it prior?  Did they do godly things or ungodly things?   “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”  Hosea 4:6

Think about what the person who wants your voice has said prior.  What have they voted on or against in the past?  Our words and our votes prior say a lot about the person.  Have they promised things and then not done them, or did they do things prior that were wrong in the sight of God? Many….and I do mean many a politician will lie just to get your vote and then do whatever the heck they or their party wants them to do.  Many a politician has taken a kickback to pass things they said they never would do.  Beware!

Proverbs 12:19:  “The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.”

When you are voting for a candidate look around at whom they associate with (Like a George Soros type).  Whom they hang out with says a lot about them.  Who influences them?

Proverbs 14:7:  “Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceivest not in him the lips of knowledge.”

When you are choosing someone to vote for (not necessarily party lines) look at what they stand on like abortion, guns, family, education, and so forth. What do they say and believe in?  Abortion is murder plain and simple.  If they believe in it then they have a major character flaw or are greatly deceived.  They are buying into the lie that a mother has a right to murder because that baby is in her.  So many deceived people.  If they were godly they would know that abortion is not the answer. (stop sleeping around for marriage is to be between a man and woman in the confines of marriage) .  Do you understand just how many babies have been slaughtered?  Millions and millions.  Remember this:  God doesn’t change and what is a sin is still sin no matter who approves of it.

Proverbs 6:16-17: “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:  A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.”

Deuteronomy 27:25:  “Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person.”Deuteronomy 19:10:  “That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.”

The vote you make is saying that the person or thing you are voting for you are agreeing with.  Our vote no matter who it is for should be one that God would want us to vote for.

Background ( I didn’t write this but feel it is important to state this here)

Let me begin with some brief historical background. First, the impression you get from the mainstream media is that Christians who live for Christ are unqualified for office because they have “religious values,” and the advocation of those values would be a violation of the “separation of church and state” clause. There is not any “separation of church and state” clause anywhere in the U.S. Constitution or its amendments. In fact, at one time many states required those running for office to be members of a church. Our current legal precedent traces back to an erroneous and perverted U.S. Supreme court decision in 1947, Everson vs. Board of Education, which began the process of turning the First Amendment on its head.

Many of those in politics are not there to help us, the American people, who voted them in.  Many took the job to seek personal gain.  Many don’t give a rat if what they vote for is against what the people want for their freedom, their families, and for being the ability to work and live a godly life. God will allow people into government that is not right for their people because their people have forgotten Him and what is important to Him.  Christians should submit to the government as long as doing so does not require them to disobey God. Christians should be the models of good citizenship, but our first allegiance is always to God, but that fact will be the reason that some governments will persecute Christians

“Consider what you are doing, for you do not judge for man but for the Lord who is with you when you render judgment. “Now then let the fear of the Lord be upon you; be very careful what you do, for the Lord our God will have no part in unrighteousness, or partiality, or the taking of a bribe” (2 Chron. 19:6,7).

I did not write this, but this is also important:

If a government will not fulfill its God-given duties, then He may chastise it or replace it with another as He has done many times in the past. Chastening may come through natural disasters or oppression by other nations such as what happened to Egypt (Exodus 7-11) or Israel during the period of the Judges and Kings. He can replace a government by striking down the ruler supernaturally or with a disease (such as Herod – Acts 12:21-24). He may have it overthrown by an internal rebellion (1 Kings 12, 22, etc) or by having another nation conquer it (2 Kings 17, 25).

We have a responsibility to vote and our vote should honor God!

Since political candidates will be a combination of various moral standards, it may be rare to find a candidate that rates well on everything. Some candidates and issues will be choices between bad and worse, but some issues are downright evil that must be opposed. Let me quickly go over some of the major issues and give you some questions that should be in your mind as you evaluate the issues and any candidate for any office.

Life: The first moral priority is human life. God is the creator of life and all human life is made in His image, so all human life has inherent worth (Genesis 1:26,27), which is why God prohibited murder of human life and required capital punishment for those that do (Genesis 9:6). What value does the candidate put on human life? What protections does he advocate to protect human life? Is the candidate pro-life, indifferent or pro-abortion? Those who call themselves “pro-choice” are either indifferent or pro-abortion and are usually liars since they rarely support informed consent and waiting period laws. Those that will not protect the life of the most innocent and helpless among us, a baby in the womb, cannot be trusted to protect anything else except their interests.

Protection:  Does the candidate understand the protective role of government both locally and nationally and advocate law and order? Police should be supported in their protective role while being restricted from becoming oppressors themselves. Does the candidate understand the necessity and proper use of armed forces as well as diplomacy in averting war (Proverbs 20:18; Luke 14:31)?

Justice: Government has the responsibility to establish and execute justice, and to the degree, a government deviates from God’s standards of justice is the degree to which it is failing. Tragically, the United States is failing in many ways to carry out justice due to political corruption by which laws are ignored or changed to benefit the politically favored class. We also have judges that rule based on what they would like it to be rather than what the law states.

Morality: Isaiah 5:20 pronounces a woe upon those “who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness.” Tragically, there are now many in our society that do just that. God clearly describes what is good and what is evil in the Bible, but He also pronounces some things as abhorrent and abominations. Some things are especially evil that should receive priority in a government’s protective efforts and application of justice. Some of these things reveal an evil character even when the outward presentation looks good.  Questions to consider concerning sexual morality. Does the candidate seek to protect marriage or make it easier to get a divorce (which usually exploits the woman with children)? Do they uphold the sacredness of marriage between a man and a woman or advocate redefining it according to the homosexual agenda? Do they uphold laws against sexual immorality, or do they advocate forcing society to accept as a specially protected class the sexually perverse including homosexuals, crossdressers, and trans-gendered?

Personal Integrity. Proverbs 6:16-19 helps understand God’s assessment of people and therefore helpful in evaluating a political candidate’s integrity. “There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, 19 A false witness [who] utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.”

Haughty eyes refer to that condescending look the proud can give because they think themselves to be superior to the rest of us mere knaves. This is a common attitude among the political elite. Beware of proud and arrogant candidates that think they know what is best for you and want government control over your life. Is the candidate proud or humble?

A lying tongue reveals a dishonest and selfish character striving to do what is best for themselves instead of what is best for others. It seems many politicians strive to make lying an art form, but a person that is characterized by lying cannot be trusted on anything. The Bible gives a strong warning against it including that those who practice it will be cast into the lake of fire instead of going to heaven (Leviticus 19:11; Proverbs 12:22; Colossians 3:9Revelation 21:8). All candidates will fail at some point, but more is revealed about their integrity by whether they are honest about it or not than in the particular failure itself. Is the candidate characterized by honesty or lying?

Feet that run rapidly to evil describe the feeding frenzy of sharks that strive to get whatever they can when someone has fallen victim to another. They may join in the evil themselves or just watch it with glee. They see another person’s downfall as an opportunity for gain for themselves. They broadcast the shame of another instead of trying to correct and heal it. What is the candidate’s response to the evil that befalls others? Intervene? Watch? Join in?

A false witness is worse than a general liar because his lies make someone else his victim. It is bad enough to lie about yourself so others will think you are something you are not or can do something you can’t, but it is a lot worse to try to destroy another person with lies. That includes spreading gossip or having others do that in his stead. This has become common political practice. Does the candidate lie about others? Verify the content of political attack ads. (Just look at the very lies they told about Trump.  If you want the truth it is there, but so many will watch the lying media and claim it as truth)

The final abomination in this list is spreading strife among brothers. Relationships that should be close and harmonious, or at least cooperative, are strained or even destroyed by the actions of an antagonist. They can generate the strife themselves or just take advantage of a rift or strain already present and make it wider through lies, gossip, rumor, and innuendo. This is such a problem in New York State government that it is dysfunctional though the same party controls both the legislative and executive branches. Is the candidate known for antagonism or graciousness?

When these various abominations are combined, we have the politics of personal destruction. An evil, but effective tactic, used by wicked people to gain political power.

As Christians, our priority is always to please our Lord and trust Him to bring good out of any situation even when they are not to our liking and are antagonistic to His stated moral will (Romans 8:28; James 1:2-4).

Our goal is to one day stand before our Lord and hear Him say to us, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”

So before you even think of voting…pray, and ask God what He wants you to vote for.

Note:  Several things in this were not mine, but I felt important enough to put in here for you.  I had them in my notes on this subject.  I don’t remember whom to give credit to them for.  Voting is such an honor and privilege.  We must take it seriously because the enemy certainly is.
