Post 58 You do Have a Destiny

Even if you don’t realize it we all have a destiny.  We can choose to follow God’s plan for our life or we can ignore it altogether.  Real destiny is living out our life as God purposed for us.  Each of us is called but not each of us will fulfill that destiny for which we are called. I know that for years I was not on the same page as what God had called me to. I thank God that He did not give up on me.

To man, it might seem I am nothing on the great scale of life, but to God I am.  I don’t have to go into the world and be a great preacher like Billy Graham.  Maybe there are only one or a few people that I am to reach with the word of God and my testimony.  My job is to live out the purpose for which God calls.  Maybe your call is to reach someone at work, your neighbor, a friend, a loved one, or a stranger.  If we ask God then God will put the right person in the right place for our paths to cross in some way.

We all come from different parents, different times, and different circumstances in life, and we all came into existence in the period that God chose for us to be born.  We were not a mistake no matter who might tell us that we were.  We don’t need to be rich or famous to accomplish God’s will and work for our life.  We need to be obedient to do His will as He shows us.  Most likely for most that just might not be what we would have chosen for ourselves.  Our part is to be willing to follow God even when we don’t understand that calling. I was not always available (in my own eyes) to be committed to whatever it was that God wanted me to do.  I would say that I did many things my way and failed miserably. Even though I thought I knew God personally I was not giving God me completely because that would mean (to me) that I no longer had control over me and somewhere inside me that seemed better I guess. It wasn’t!!!

There are times, I guess, that I would somewhere inside my mind think that how could God use me?  I am more of a solitary person I think than one to get out there and go against that part of me to reach out to someone.  I never felt qualified, in my mind, to do anything important let alone do it for God. God says we can when our mind says we can’t possibly do that.  When we become a child of God we take on His DNA.  What an honor to be gifted my Father in heaven’s DNA.

When we are given His DNA then we are being equipped to do His will….His way! Not many choose to do it His way but sure makes our soul jump for joy when we do it His way.  God gives us the power to accomplish whatever He gives us to do.  Maybe not the way we might choose but always the right way.  I know that our life on this earth is very short to get us prepared for our home with Him.  I also know I don’t want to die without Him, nor do I want to live one more day without Him.  I wasted enough time.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Rom 8:28-30   Isn’t that an amazing verse?  God justifies us when He calls us.  Each of us is given, what we would call, an assignment to accomplish.  (Think of when your parents gave you chores and told you to do them.  You can do it or ignore it and they are not pleased with you).  God is my parent and your parent and He gives us different assignments to do.  He also gives us how to do them.  Doesn’t mean we are always happy about that assignment…but just do it.

How many people wonder why they were made a certain way?  Some, on the surface, might seem to be something we wish we were but we don’t know the journey in life they were given by God or the reason for it.  Just because life looks better doesn’t mean, to God, that it is.  Beauty, money, and stuff might seem enticing, but if you lose your way with God to get it…you are the loser.  I have not walked in anyone else’s shoes nor their mine.  I’ll keep my own because I am now on a journey with my Lord and Savior and I won’t trade that for all the money, fame, and stuff out there.  I can’t take it with me and neither can you.  That last breath we take on this earth leaves everything we thought was important behind.  God made me and I am one of a kind, and God made you one of a kind as well.  That alone is very amazing.

In Exodus 4 it says:    And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and a slow tongue. And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

I want to do right even when I somehow do the dumbest of things and regret it.  I want my life to be a life that matters not a life of regrets.  Haven’t all of us do dumb things we wish we could go back and change?  Maybe what we thought we lost in life was not what God wanted for us and even if we don’t understand that God sees our entire picture way before we even live it.

Success in life!  What does that mean to you and me?   Whose opinion should we listen to?  God has a plan for every one of us (Predestination).  What are His reasons?  What is His plan?  Why does one see good while the other doesn’t (in their own eyes)?  Since God knows all and He knows who will do His will He, as creator, has the right to make us as He wants, to have the parents we have, to live with the color of our skin, and so on. The thing is though He gives us the right to accept Him or reject Him.  He also knows who will.  Some think that because a person does bad things they have no way back, but thank God He sees our hearts and the choices we will eventually make in life.  God is always leading us, but because we are stubborn people we don’t always do right nor follow Him, especially at different times.  Do we know better than God does?  ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Jer 1:5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”  God also told Gideon that He knew the ability he has put in his DNA.   God knows our DNA as well.   When we truly discover our destiny in life and when we truly pursue God’s plan for our life then no matter what comes our way we won’t fail.

So now the question is up to us to answer.  Will we follow God’s plan or ignore it and follow our own?
